The
Abbey
of Notre-Dame de Fontaine-Guérard

Within
walking distance of Bonnemare, this Cistercian abbey is one of the best
examples of Anglo-Norman Gothic architecture and was built at the end
of the XIIth century. It is a perfect witness of
the life of cloistered nuns at that time.
Beautiful gardens on the banks of the Andelle. Exhibitions and shows of
high quality.

This
very well known
fortified castle was built by the English king Richard the
Lion Heart at the end of the XIIth
century and fell after a long siege laid by the French king Philippe
Auguste. Magnificent views of the bends of the Seine and of Les
Andelys
at the foot of the cliffs. The town was the birth place of the artist Nicolas
Poussain (1594-1665) and is worth visiting for its museums,
churches (XIIth and XIIIth
centuries) and Saint
Clothilde’s fountain.

in 1883 and lived there for 43 years.
