| The Gate House and the King’s Room |
Built
around 1500, the first floor of the Gate House was used as a Hall of
Justice by the lords of Bonnemare.
King Charles IX slept there during a
hunt in the forests of Lyons and Bacqueville.
The decoration is in
Louis XIII style and the room boasts a very beautiful sculpted stone
fireplace and has a view of the entrance way on one side and the castle
on the other. Access is by way of a spiral stone stairway.
The King's Room is undergoing
renovation. (Opening date is not known yet).
As soon as the present renovations are finished, photos will be
available. |
