Jacques Stella, born in Lyons in 1596, died in Paris in 1657.
Trained at  Cosimo II de' Medici's Court, in Florence, he will be highly influenced by Florentine art.
In 1621, he goes to Rome where he becomes very close to Nicolas Poussin
After the death of J. Stella, numerous works from him were imputed to Poussin.
